It’s no surprise that I love barns and converted barn homes. I grew up riding horses and spent much of my formative years mucking stalls and cleaning the fields. The feel of barns is in my blood. The sights, sounds and smells (yes, even the smells!) are so close to my heart. As an adult my love of barns grew even more when my parents bought a 4.5 acre piece of land and built a home around the beams of an old barn. All three of my children have celebrated birthdays and christmases in this beautiful home. Every summer my sister, brother in law and their two boys come and visit. The cousins get to spend a week running through the fields, mucking stalls and picking fresh raspberries from my mom’s garden. All in all it’s been pretty wonderful. So for this barn inspiration post, I thought I’d celebrate the gathering place for so many of my own and my children’s happy memories and post a picture of my parent’s kitchen. The one they lovingly designed and built together…happy Friday!
